My Writing
In the works…
I am currently publishing a series about a boxer puppy named Max. As someone who has always been fond of rhyming books, I am excited to share the joy they bring to kids from birth through at least second grade. This series follows the adventures of Max, a brindle-colored European Boxer. The first book, MY MOMMY MADE ME DO IT!, is a traditional rhyming story depicting Max's introduction to puppy school. He is excited about this new place, but he struggles to learn the skills other dogs grasp easily. The second book, MY WORRY BRAIN MADE ME DO IT!, Max lets his imagination go wild when he is worried about going to the vet for the first time. He finally realizes that the vet is nice and the unknown doesn’t have to be scary. The third book, MY TUMMY MADE ME DO IT! shares how Max struggles to use self-control. Max’s love for blackberries distracts him, and he wanders and gets lost. As he is being chased by a cat, he does find his way back home. Kids can participate in the repetition and learn about prepositions as they follow Max’s journey. The original book launched in early February 2025. It is being redone and will relaunch in November 2025.
Another book coming soon is; CHOOSE LAYLA AND SNOWY’S ADVENTURES. It allows the reader to pick which adventure to read next. Readers will discover places that Layla and Snowy explored, and see how they enjoyed each place.
I also have a chapter book about two characters, Maggie and Zelia, titled; JUICY WORDS. Maggie is a shy girl who prefers the comfort and safety of her home. On the other hand, Zelia is a whirlwind of energy, always on the move and sharing whatever pops into her mind. Although Maggie is visually impaired, she possesses a unique superpower that Zelia helps her discover. The story revolves around the girls' journey of building friendships and embarking on various adventures. My inspiration for this book comes from my experience of reading thousands of books to students. I observed the lack of stories in which visually impaired students could imagine themselves. I wanted them to be recognized for their strengths rather than just their differences.
In addition to these stories, I am collaborating with my brother, an environmental scientist, on a STEAM book for kids. Given my background in writing Project-Based Learning curriculum, we are combining our expertise to produce an engaging STEAM book. I am excited about these projects and many more that I am working on currently. Stay tuned for the release of these books in the future!
